Introducing the Connector Addon for Pie Calendar

We’ve got something extremely exciting on the horizon, bringing new features to Pie Calendar that have been highly requested since we launched nearly 2.5 years ago.

Those two features are:

  • Eventbrite Integration for Ticketed Events
  • External Event Feeds (via ICS)

TLDR: We’re releasing a new addon that lets you display Eventbrite and ICS feed events in WordPress using Pie Calendar. Existing LTD holders get it for free, so if you want to secure free access to this add-on, you can buy the current Pie Calendar LTD today and get the addon when it’s released (as a beta) on November 10th.

Introducing The Connector Addon & The First Two Integrations

The upcoming Pie Calendar Connector Addon brings a framework for integrating additional event sources from outside of your WordPress site.

This addon is a versatile tool that will allow us to open the door to incorporating feeds from various sources directly into Pie Calendar.

Before we dive into the details, two quick notes depending on which camp you’re in:

🥧 If you already own the Pie Calendar Lifetime Deal (LTD)

You’re all set. You’ll automatically get the new Connector Addon and these integrations at no extra cost when they launch.

The Connector Addon is a separate product, but if you buy the current Pie Calendar LTD before launch on November 10th, 2025 you’ll get it for free.

One of the decisions we made early on in the production of Pie Calendar v1 was not to launch with event ticketing because we knew the scope was absolutely massive and something we needed to be very intentional about. We also knew it would likely be our most highly requested feature (and sure enough, it is our #1 most requested feature!).

Internally, we’ve discussed ticketing at length. What does the Pie Calendar version of event ticketing look like? If we built our own from scratch, we might not end up building something truly useful for anyone.

It’s also critically important to us that we stay true to the core philosophy of Pie Calendar: lightweight, flexible, and easy to use. “Stripped down, done better” as we like to call it.

Additionally, ticketing systems have to be rock solid. When money and payments are involved, reliability is everything. We wanted a solution that just works — without the chaos that can come with self-hosted ticketing setups.

After countless months of discussions, testing, and prototyping, we realized that instead of reinventing the wheel, the best approach was to integrate with the gold standard in event ticketing.

Event Ticketing via Eventbrite

Eventbrite is our first major integration with a third-party event source. With the Connector Addon, you can bring all your Eventbrite events into your WordPress site and display them beautifully via Pie Calendar.

Want to show a calendar of only Eventbrite events? You can do that.
Want to mix both Eventbrite and Pie Calendar native events on the same calendar? No problem — you can do that, too.

You simply manage the ticketed events on the Eventbrite platform, pull them into your WordPress site via our integration, and all of the events will show up on your calendar. This integration also works with Eventbrite’s recurring events!

All the familiar Pie Calendar features work seamlessly with Eventbrite integration, so there’s nothing new to learn and no extra complexity added to your site. Setup is quick and easy.

Eventbrite brings everything you’d expect from a world-class ticketing platform: limited quantities, tiered tickets, free or paid events, online or in-person options, seat mapping, reporting, emailing, scanning tickets at the door, and more.

We’re incredibly excited to get this in your hands as part of the Connector Addon.

External Event Feeds (via ICS)

The second big integration launching with the Connector Addon is ICS feed support.

Using the ubiquitous ICS format, you’ll be able to automatically bring in events to Pie Calendar from providers like Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple, and many others that offer an ICS link.

How does it work? Google Calendar, for example, gives you an ICS feed URL for each calendar in your account. You just drop that URL into the Pie Calendar controls, and instantly, all events from that external calendar appear in your Pie Calendar.

Want to use more than one ICS feed from totally different providers? No problem! Add as many as you need.

Just like with Eventbrite, you can mix and match event sources. Want to show only Google Calendar events? Or combine Eventbrite and Google Calendar events? Show all of them together? You can do that!

We’ve already heard from early testers that this is exactly what they’ve been waiting for, especially for clients who don’t touch WordPress but still need to update events on the site (without embedding an ugly Google Calendar).

This approach requires no custom code, no API keys, and adds zero bloat to your database.

What other integrations are coming? We’re looking for feedback here! Have a request for an event data source you’d like to see? Send us a feature request email >

Why is this an addon and not a core feature of Pro?
Frankly, because not everyone is going to want or need this, and we’re allergic to forcing bloat on people.

We also wanted to build it in a way that users of Pie Calendar Free can also take advantage of the connector if they don’t need all of the features baked into Pro (recurring events, color coding, etc.) and this approach allows that. Now, people who just need a way to display Eventbrite or ICS feed events on their WordPress sites in a beautiful way have an option, without having to buy the full Pro plugin.

Rest assured, if you own an LTD before the addon launches, you’ll get it for free! New customers will have the option to buy it separately or, during promotional periods, get both in a special bundle deal.
