Pie Calendar 1.5.0: Advanced Recurrence Rules

Youtube video

Pie Calendar 1.5.0 is now available and introduces new advanced recurrence rule settings.

Specific Weekdays for Weekly Events

In Pie Calendar 1.5.0, you can designate which weekdays an event should recur on if its frequency is set to weekly.

This allows you to create multiple event recurrences per week, all on separate days, from one parent post.

Previously, this was only possible by creating one post per recurring weekday.

Nth Instance Selector for Monthly Events

In Pie Calendar 1.5.0, you can pick an nth weekday instance an event should recur on if its frequency is set to monthly.

This allows you to have your even recur on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, or last instance of the weekday the event occurs on.

You can choose multiple nth instances as well.

This operates differently from the “Same Weekday & Position” toggle, which allowed you to make the event occur on the same weekday and instance as the original event date. For example, an event that originally occurred on the second Monday would always recur on the second Monday if this toggle was selected.

Now, you can decouple the nth instance recurrence from the original event date.

Decoupled Dates & Times for Recurrence Rules

In Pie Calendar 1.5.0, you can now set a new date and time for recurrence rules.

This allows you to not only designate a specific start date at which the recurrence will begin appearing on the calendar, but also change the time that the event appears on the calendar.

This, combined with the previous features, allows you to spin out multiple events with different dates, times, and recurrence rulesets from a single parent event.

New Rule Type: Blackout Rule

In Pie Calendar 1.5.0, you can now choose “Blackout Rule” as your recurrence rule type.

This recurrence rule type has the same settings as a normal Recurrence Rule.

Instead of creating a recurrence matching the rule’s settings, it will instead remove all instances of the event that match the Blackout Rule’s settings.

This allows you to do things like create a daily event that never occurs on weekends, or blackout specific yearly dates for specific events.
